Forte Dossaccio

A walk to the former Austro-Hungarian military fortress: it lays at 1838 metres above sea level on the homonymous mount, between the mountain groups Bocche and Lagorai. It was part of the great system of Austrian fortresses at the Italian borders.

The fortress is reachable walking on a comfortable forest road that starts from Forte Buso or from Paneveggio or from Bellamonte across the chalets and the meadows at Cheta, that is the junction for the not difficult hill that leads to the fortress.

From there you can enjoy a splendid view on Pale di San Martino, on Lagorai and on the Forte Buso Lake below.
